Use SkipTheCAD in Claude

Add to Claude Free, no sign-in. Opens the SkipTheCAD listing in Claude's connector directory.

What it does

The connector lets Claude look up the generators listed here: what each one makes, what it costs, which files it exports, whether you need an account and whether the maker allows selling the prints. It can also compare tools side by side, list what was added recently and read our guides. Answers link to the tool itself and to its page on SkipTheCAD. It only reads; it cannot change anything, make a model or download a file.

• Search 3D print generators (search_generators): Search the generators listed on SkipTheCAD: online and desktop tools that make a 3D-printable file from a form, photo, text or prompt, without CAD. Use it when someone wants to make something to 3D print (a lithophane, a Gridfinity bin, a keychain, a sign, a gear, a terrain map, a model from a photo) or asks which tool to use. Filters narrow by price, account, file format, platform and whether selling the prints is allowed. Returns each match with its price, formats, account need, selling rule, the tool link and the SkipTheCAD page.
• Generator details (get_generator): Everything SkipTheCAD knows about one generator: what it makes, price and plans, file formats, account, whether selling the prints is allowed and why, pros, cons, the steps, how it was checked and similar tools. Use it when someone wants the full picture of one tool, or names one.
• Compare generators (compare_generators): Put 2 to 4 generators side by side: price, formats, platforms, account, selling rule, difficulty, pros and cons. Use it when someone is choosing between a few tools.
• Newly listed generators (new_generators): Generators recently added to SkipTheCAD, newest first. Use it when someone asks what is new in no-CAD 3D printing tools, or wants fresh options in a category.
• Search guides (search_guides): SkipTheCAD's hand-written guides and comparisons, such as the best lithophane, Gridfinity or terrain map generators, or how to make a print from a photo. Use it for "which is best" and "how do I" questions; an empty query lists every guide.
• Read a guide (get_guide): The text of one guide with its questions and answers and the generators it covers, for a recommendation backed by the guide.
• List categories (list_categories): The categories of generators on SkipTheCAD with their slugs and how many tools each has. Use it when someone wants to browse.

Add it to Claude

1. Open the SkipTheCAD listing in Claude's connector directory and choose Connect. No sign-in is needed.
2. Turn the connector on in a chat and ask, for example: “Which free tool makes a Gridfinity bin without an account?”

Or add it by hand: in Claude, open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste https://skipthecad.com/mcp.

Privacy and links

Claude sends our server only the search words and filters it picked for your question. We store none of it and cannot see your conversation; see the privacy policy. Tool links in answers are the tools' own addresses, never affiliate links, and sponsored spots are not part of the connector. Links to our own pages carry utm_source=claude so we can count visits from it.
