About this generator
Car Plate Keychain Creator [OpenSCAD] is a free MakerWorld customizer that turns a registration number, or any short text, into a small license plate keychain. Made by the designer Yarn, it runs in MakerWorld's Parametric Model Maker, so you fill in a form and never touch the OpenSCAD code behind it. It has passed 105,000 customizations and 8,500 likes.
The plate is styled after a European one: a white face, a blue band on the left with the keyring hole through it, raised black characters and a dark border. You set the text and font, the plate length and width, the hole size and the font size, and the default plate is 60 mm long and 15 mm wide. Since a November 2024 update the parts keep their colors when you download a 3MF, and the default print profile uses three filaments, about 10 g in total and under half an hour of print time. Because the parts stay separate, you can also assign other filament colors in the slicer.
It suits car owners and anyone after a quick gift for a new driver. There is only one plate style, and you need a MakerWorld account to customize and download. Prints are for personal use; the designer offers a paid membership for selling them.
