About this generator
Custom LED Name Light Box is a free MakerWorld customizer by MakerSky that turns a name into a hollow, letter-shaped box with a thin front panel, so LEDs inside make a glowing outline around the raised name. It runs in MakerWorld's Parametric Model Maker: you type the name, pick a font and set the sizes in a form instead of editing code. It was published on 31 August 2026 and had passed 35,000 customizations by late September.
You get three parts: the body with a 1 mm diffuser printed into its front, a separate text plate that you glue on top of it, and a rear lid with an alignment insert. You set the text size, body depth and outlines, and can add a cable hole with its own diameter and X/Y position. Early versions cut off the tails of letters like g, j, p, q and y. Version 3 adds an option to keep them, but the box may then not stand flat.
It suits makers who want a personalized night light or door sign for a child's room and don't mind a little wiring. The LEDs are not part of the print: the creator's demo uses a WS2812 strip driven by an ESP8266 board, but a plain LED strip or small LED module also works. The default print profile expects an AMS, and you need a free MakerWorld account to generate and download.
