What is Duplicate Your Keys?
Duplicate Your Keys is a free MakerWorld customizer by Ritz.Prints.3D that turns a key code into a printable house key. The cuts on a key follow a short row of numbers, one depth per pin, and once you know those numbers for your own key you type them into the form and get a matching blade. There are four scripts: Kwikset KW1 5-pin plus an updated V2 of it from December 2025, Kwikset KW10 6-pin and Yale. It started as an entry in MakerWorld's OpenSCAD Master Challenge and has been customized more than 77,000 times.
To find the code you need a key decoder, a small gauge that shows the depth of each cut, and the designer points to printable ones. Pick the script for your key type, enter the numbers and generate. The sample print is a 4 g PLA key at 0.16 mm layers, and its profile note recommends 100% infill for strength.
Treat the result as a backup to keep on file or show a locksmith, not an everyday key. The designer warns that a plastic key can snap inside the lock, and one commenter reports exactly that. A locksmith who tried one found it worked but has no shoulder stop to set how far it goes in. Only copy keys you own.

Duplicate Your Keys pros
- Makes a matching key blade from nothing more than the code numbers
- Separate scripts for Kwikset KW1, Kwikset KW10 and Yale, with a KW1 V2 updated in December 2025
- Tiny, quick print: the sample profile uses about 4 g of PLA and takes under 20 minutes
Duplicate Your Keys cons
- A plastic key can break in the lock; the designer calls it a spare or reference only, and one commenter had it snap in a front door lock
- Only three key types, with no Schlage or 6-pin Yale despite repeated requests in the comments
- No shoulder stop on the blade, and a few users found the key too small and had to scale it up
