What is Focus Rings?

Focus Rings is a browser generator for module 0.8 follow focus gears, the toothed rings that let a follow focus unit or a focus motor turn a camera lens. You type the diameter of the lens focus ring, or one full circumference measured with tape, from 40 to 110 mm, pick a width from 10 to 40 mm and set the wall: automatic, a fixed wall from 2 mm, or one outside diameter shared by all your lenses. The opening, outside diameter and width are engraved inside every ring, so you can tell your rings apart. A lens library on the site holds saved measurements for more than 200 lenses.

The plain slip-on ring is free as an STL, with no account and no email address. Rings with three built-in clamps or with hard stops for focus motors are Premium at €14.90, and the same site sells generators for lens caps, rear lens caps and camera body caps for nine mounts (EF, RF, E, Z, X, L, MFT, M and PL); the plain Canon EF rear cap and a smooth blank lens cap are free too. Focus Rings is made by Bernhard See, a filmmaker in Vienna.

The page recommends printing a test ring first and adjusting the fit for your printer, in PLA or PETG, flat with the axis upright.
