What is Follow Your Focus?

Follow Your Focus makes a geared ring that clamps around a camera lens so a follow focus unit can turn it. You size the ring by the lens diameter or by its measured perimeter, and the tool works out the number of teeth for you. It is a separate tool from the trinckle follow focus customizer also listed here, with its own fit options and an open license for the files it makes.

You set the minimum wall width, ring thickness and a print tolerance, add a chamfer to the gear teeth or the inner bore, and choose one or two grub screw holes in M3 or M4 with an optional screw cap. Advanced parameters sit under a separate panel. The geometry is generated locally in the browser.

The download is an STL. The maker notes that the slicer may report open edges on the file but that it prints fine. It is free with no account. The generated STL files are licensed CC BY 4.0, so you may sell prints as long as you credit the tool with a link; the code itself is CC BY-NC 4.0. It suits videographers and photographers who need gear rings for lenses without built-in teeth.
