About Spring Generator by Koolm
Printed springs sound unlikely, but Koolm's Spring Generator has made them a common MakerWorld project, with almost 14,000 likes. It creates compression springs from a handful of real-world values, so you can match the length and diameter of a spring you need to replace or prototype.
You set the free length, outer diameter and wire thickness, then the number of active coils and the pitch. Dead coils at each end, variable pitch through a midpoint and spread setting, grounded flat ends and a round or rectangular wire profile are all available. The author recommends supports, variable layer height and laying the spring flat with auto-orient, and printing in PETG rather than brittle materials such as matte PLA.
It is free with a MakerWorld account. It suits prototypes, toys, latches and classroom demos where a light spring force is enough; printed springs will not replace steel under heavy loads.
