What is Meshcast Candle Mold Maker?

Meshcast Candle Mold Maker is a browser tool that builds a hard, two-piece box mold around a 3D model, ready to print and pour into. You upload an STL, OBJ or 3MF file, start from an example or one of Meshcast's ready-made models, or spell out a word in its text sign designer and send it across. Then you say whether you are casting wax, resin, soap or plaster, and it places the seam, the alignment keys and a pour funnel on top for you.

Sliders cover the scale, where the halves split, wall thickness, fit clearance, the size and position of up to four pour holes and an optional air vent. Extras include grooves for rubber bands, pry pockets for opening the mold, registration pins for plaster or concrete, and an option that fills in undercuts so an awkward shape can still come out. The finished mold downloads as STL or 3MF.

The page also works as a short casting guide, with PETG print settings, pour temperatures and tips on wicks and leaks. It suits candle and soap makers who want a reusable mold of their own shape. Designing and previewing are open to everyone. One download works without an account, and after that you need a free account with a small weekly allowance.

What you can make

  • Two-part candle molds
  • Melt-and-pour soap molds
  • Epoxy and UV resin casting molds
  • Plaster molds with registration pins
  • Molds of words and letter shapes

How to use Meshcast Candle Mold Maker

  1. Open the candle mold page and upload an STL, OBJ or 3MF, or load an example
  2. Pick what you are casting: wax, resin, soap or plaster
  3. Set the scale and seam, then adjust pour holes, walls and clearance if needed
  4. Generate the mold and download the STL or 3MF; after the first download you need a free account
  5. Print both halves, ideally in PETG, clamp them shut and pour

Meshcast Candle Mold Maker pros

  • Takes STL, OBJ or 3MF uploads and repairs a model that is not watertight before building the mold
  • Up to four draggable pour holes, an air vent and sliders for seam, walls and fit clearance
  • The page includes a practical guide to PETG print settings, pour temperatures, wicks and leaks

Meshcast Candle Mold Maker cons

  • Only one download works without an account; a free account then allows 5 files to start and 3 a week
  • Free and Starter files carry a Meshcast engraving and are personal use only, so selling casts needs Pro or Founder
  • No wick hole is added, and a rigid mold cannot release deep undercuts, so some shapes need a silicone mold instead
