About this generator

Parametric Sorting Tray by Benjamin Kott is a free MakerWorld customizer that builds open trays split into compartments, sized to fit a drawer, shelf or workbench. It is a MakerWorld staff pick with more than 102,000 customizations, 23,000 likes and 35,000 logged prints. You fill in a form in MakerWorld's Parametric Model Maker instead of editing code.

You set the length and width from 80 to 300 mm, the height and an outer corner radius of 10, 20 or 30 mm. Then you pick up to six columns and six rows, and you can let the first cell stretch across several rows or columns to make room for larger items. The inside corners are rounded, so screws and beads are easy to scoop out. The script may shrink the corner radius when a layout would not fit, so check the result in the slicer before printing.

If you would rather skip the form, the designer also posts a dozen ready-made sizes (160 x 160, 160 x 80 and 80 x 80 mm), and other makers have added lid profiles. It suits anyone sorting hardware, electronics parts or kitchen clutter. Only the first cell can span, the limits are fixed and the script is locked, and you need a MakerWorld account to customize or download. The Standard Digital File License rules out selling prints.
