What is Customizable Letter Puzzle?

Customizable Letter Puzzle is a free MakerWorld customizer by PixelFanLabs that turns a typed name or word into a puzzle for young kids: a base plate with shallow letter-shaped recesses and loose letters that sit in them. It runs on MakerWorld's Parametric Model Maker, so all the work happens in a form in your browser. The defaults suit children learning to read, with the rounded Fredoka font, 40 mm letters and softened edges.

In the form you type one or two lines of text, choose a font and set letter height, letter and plate thickness, recess depth, border width, corner radius and a "bubble weight" value that makes the letters chunkier. The plate sizes itself to the text. An option added in August 2026 deals with fonts that squeeze some letters together. You can also turn off the letters or the plate and print only one of them, for example to replace a lost letter. The result downloads as a 3MF, and a PDF guide shows how to split it into parts and build plates in Bambu Studio.

With about 2,800 likes and more than 29,000 customizations, it suits parents, grandparents and teachers who want a personal name puzzle or a spelling toy.

How to use Customizable Letter Puzzle

1. Sign in to MakerWorld in a web browser, open the model and click Customize
2. Type the name or word, using a second line for long names
3. Pick a font, set letter height, thickness, border, corner radius and bubble weight, then press Generate to preview
4. Download the 3MF and split the plate and letters in Bambu Studio, following the PDF guide
5. Print the plate in two colors (AMS or a filament change pause) and the letters in any colors you like
