What is Box Generator (3D MakerBench)?
The 3D MakerBench Box Generator makes a rectangular box with a lid, sized to the millimeter. You pick the lid first: push-on, magnetic, a sliding lid that runs in 45 degree grooves, a print-in-place hinge, or no lid for an open tray. You then type the width, depth and height as either the inside size (so something fits in it) or the outside size (so the box fits in a drawer).
Options include dividers across and front to back, a text label engraved into the lid in one of four fonts, and wall, floor and lid thickness, corner radius and lid clearance. The magnetic lid takes eight disc magnets, with 6 x 2 mm as the suggested size. A live 3D preview shows the outside size, volume and grams of PLA, and the box and lid download together as one STL laid out to print without supports.
It is free, needs no account and runs in your browser. The maker states that files made with 3D MakerBench may be printed and sold. It suits anyone who needs a plain storage box, pencil case or small gift box in a size no ready-made model has.
