What is OrbitStudio Sky?

OrbitStudio Sky is a freemium browser tool from OrbitStudio that turns the night sky over one place, at one moment, into a flat star chart you can 3D print. Think of a birth date, a wedding night or the evening you met: search a city or type coordinates, set the date and hour, and the chart is built for you.

The stars come from the Bright Star Catalog down to magnitude 6, and brighter stars print taller and wider. Constellation lines sit beneath them, and the Moon and planets appear only if they were above the horizon. Dates from 1900 to 2100 work. You can add a title, a message, the place and the date, with the coordinates if you want them, all as raised text that stands out in a second color. Pick a rounded rectangle, rectangle, circle or hexagon, with an optional desk stand, and the plate prints flat without supports.

STL downloads are free and need no account. Pre-colored 3MF files, where every part already has its color assigned for Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer, use one credit from an OrbitStudio pass bought once on MakerWorld. Selling prints needs the commercial Merchant tier.
