About this generator

Parametric Side-Release Buckle is a free MakerWorld customizer by feeltn that builds the familiar two-piece clip you find on backpacks and bag straps. The male half has flexible snap arms plus a stiff center tongue that cuts side-to-side wobble, and the female half has the side windows you squeeze to let go. It is an OpenSCAD script underneath, but you only work with a form in the browser after signing in to a free MakerWorld account.

You set the strap width anywhere from 10 to 60 mm and the thickness from 5 to 14 mm, then pick how each half attaches: sewn slot, belt pass-through, adjustable tri-glide, two or four paracord holes, closed loop, single cord hole or a solid flat tab, and the halves can differ. Fit comes down mostly to one clearance value, and the script caps extreme settings so the parts stay printable. Labels are in English, Italian, French, German and Chinese. The creator recommends printing both parts flat without supports, in PETG or PLA+.

The creator has since posted a V3 with a sideways D-ring hole and optional insertion guides, but this V2 page is the one most people use, with more than 13,000 customizations against about 1,400 on V3. It suits anyone who broke a buckle on a bag or strap and wants a replacement sized to their webbing.
