What is PrintPal Lithophane Generator?

PrintPal Lithophane Generator is a free browser tool that turns a photo into a lithophane STL. You drop in a PNG, JPG or WebP file, paste one from the clipboard or try a sample image, and the picture becomes a panel of varying thickness: dark areas print thick and block light, bright areas print thin. The image is processed on your own device, and you do not need an account to download.

Sliders cover brightness, contrast, gamma and smoothing, plus width from 30 to 300 mm, maximum and minimum thickness, resolution from 50 to 400 px and an optional solid border. You can invert or mirror the image and choose a flat panel or a curved version with an angle from 60 to 360 degrees, so a full cylinder can sit around a tea light or small lamp. A Backlight button lights up the 3D preview, and the page lists dimensions, triangle count and estimated file size before you download. By default the STL is saved standing upright, ready to print on its edge.

It suits anyone who wants a quick photo gift or night light without learning a dedicated lithophane app. Shapes are limited to flat and round, with no stands, bases or light box parts.

How to use PrintPal Lithophane Generator

Slice with 100% infill and print it standing upright
