What is STL Playground?

STL Playground is a free browser site with more than 30 model builders, where you shape a part with sliders, text fields and drop-down menus while a live 3D preview updates. A small team of makers writes every builder itself, and none of them ask for CAD skills.

The range is wide. For text there are desk and door name plates, luggage tags, name tags, plant stake labels, Gridfinity labels and flat 3D text. For storage and fixes you get screw-top jars, compartment boxes with snap-on lids, drawer and desktop organizers, wall shelves, device stands, hooks and a furniture leveling wedge. There are also photo lithophanes as flat panels, cylinders, spheres or four-sided lanterns, a cookie cutter maker, flexi snakes, a gravity fidget, a mini cornhole set and a peg drop game. Many builders accept emoji and uploaded SVG logos, and the export menu offers STL, OBJ or a 3MF that keeps colors and parts separate.

Designing and previewing work without an account. Downloading needs a free account with 100 credits a month; every download costs 10 credits, so that is about 10 free downloads a month, for personal use only; selling printed items needs a paid plan. It suits hobbyists and small print sellers who want quick personalized prints.

How to use STL Playground

1. Open the builder library and pick a builder, such as the desk name plate
2. Type your text, pick a font and add an emoji or SVG logo where the builder supports it
3. Adjust size and layout with the sliders while the 3D preview updates
4. Choose STL, 3MF or OBJ and create a free account to export
5. Slice and print, using a different filament for each part if you like
