About this generator
Drywall Anchor with Opening Wings is a free MakerWorld customizer by YosaNatural that makes plastic wall plugs for plasterboard. You drill a hole, push the anchor in (a light tap with a hammer can help) and drive in the screw. As the screw goes in, the wings open out behind the board and hold the anchor in place.
In the customizer you set the screw diameter, the drywall thickness and the size of the hole you will drill. You can also change the wing thickness, add extra wing length and adjust the collar that sits against the wall. The creator suggests a hole about twice the screw diameter and warns that the model may break with screws outside 3 to 7 mm. If you would rather not measure, ready print profiles cover 4 mm and 5 mm screws in board from 5 to 20 mm and Imperial #8 and #10 screws in 1/4 to 5/8 inch board, plus a small gauge you print to check how thick your wall is.
It suits people who hang things on hollow walls and want anchors that match their own screws. You need a free MakerWorld account to customize it. PETG is recommended, and the filament should be dry, since moist filament gives brittle prints.
