What is Bearing Generator by Koolm?

Bearing Generator by Koolm is a free MakerWorld customizer that builds a complete bearing as one print, with the rolling elements already sitting between the rings. It comes from the author of the well-known gear, screw and spring generators and has more than 15,000 likes and about 73,000 customizations.

You either pick a standard type from a list of over 60, covering the inch-based R-series, the 6000, 6200 and 6300 series, 605, 16000 and flanged F-series parts such as the F686ZZ, or you switch to Custom and enter the inner and outer diameter, width and an optional flange. Then you choose balls, rollers or dumbbell-shaped elements. Dumbbells are the default because they gave the author the most reliable results. Spacing decides how many elements fit around the ring, and clearance sets the gap to the races so parts do not fuse.

It is free with a MakerWorld account. The Standard Digital File License does not allow selling prints unless you join Koolm's paid membership. The author's own profiles use 0.08 mm layers and slower walls, so a single 608 takes about an hour, and small sizes may take a test print or two to dial in clearance. It suits toys, spinners, prototypes and light-duty jigs, not loads a steel bearing would carry.

What you can make

  • Metric bearings in the 608, 6000, 6200 and 6300 series
  • Inch-size R-series bearings
  • Flanged F-series bearings
  • Bearings with ball, roller or dumbbell elements
  • Custom-size bearings with an optional flange

Bearing Generator by Koolm pros

  • More than 60 standard bearing sizes built in, including flanged types
  • Three rolling element shapes to match what your printer handles best
  • Separate spacing and clearance settings to tune element count and fit

Bearing Generator by Koolm cons

  • The author's 0.08 mm profiles take about an hour even for one 608
  • Tiny sizes can fuse, so you may need more clearance and a reprint
  • Plastic bearings suit light duty only; test before trusting one under load
