About this generator

The Cable Raceway Cover & Channel System is a free MakerWorld customizer by Dabo that sizes a two-part cord cover to your own cables. A bottom channel holds the wires and a top piece slides or snaps over it, so you can still get at them later. Ready-to-print 250mm straights come with the model, and its Fusion source files open in MakerWorld's parametric customizer, which has been used nearly 30,000 times.

The main file sets the inside width and height of the channel (6mm minimum, 12 by 8mm by default), the length of each straight run, and optional screw holes with a diameter you pick. Matching T and cross junctions, 45 and 90 degree bends, inner and outer corners and end caps follow the same sizes. Three more customizable files add bends at an angle you enter, dual-size junctions that step down from a wide main run to a narrower branch, and a twist piece that turns the channel a quarter turn.

It is free with a MakerWorld login, but customizing only works on the desktop site and the customized 3MF does not keep the creator's print settings. The designer says it is meant for indoor, low-voltage cords that do not run hot. It suits anyone who wants tidy cable runs along a wall or desk without touching CAD.

What you can make

  • Straight cable raceway channels
  • T and cross junctions
  • 45 and 90 degree bends
  • Inner and outer corner pieces
  • End caps
  • Dual-size T, cross and bend connectors

How to use Cable Raceway Cover & Channel System

  1. Open the model on MakerWorld in a desktop browser and click Customize
  2. Pick a file: channels and connectors, angled, dual-size or twist
  3. Enter the inside width, height and length, and set screw holes to 1 if you want them
  4. Generate and download the 3MF, then set 0.2mm layers and 2 walls in your slicer to match the original profile

Cable Raceway Cover & Channel System pros

  • Only a handful of numbers to set, with sensible defaults
  • Separate files for angled bends, dual-size junctions and a twist piece
  • Bends and corners snap over an assembled channel with no trimming

Cable Raceway Cover & Channel System cons

  • Customizing only works on the MakerWorld desktop site
  • Customized 3MF has no print profile, so you set layers and walls yourself
  • Standard Digital File License: no remixing or selling prints
