What is Mini Skyline?

Mini Skyline is a free browser tool that turns part of a real map into a printable relief model. You find a place, draw a rectangle, circle or freeform outline around it, and decide what goes in: buildings, roads, paths, rail, water, parks, trees and terrain, plus optional contour lines and imported GPX routes. City tile covers detailed areas up to 50 km², Project Mode splits larger areas into as many as 20 matching pieces, and Terrain tile handles wide landscapes without the city layers.

The model is built inside your own browser tab, and you can inspect and adjust it in a 3D preview before downloading. Each export is a 3MF with named, colored parts (Project Mode bundles its pieces in a ZIP), so a multicolor printer can give each feature its own filament, or you can print it in one color. There is no STL export. An optional Landmarks switch adds ready-made models of famous buildings, which the site notes are made with AI. Beyond Earth, you can make terrain models of the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Ceres and Vesta, and a Minecraft mode, in beta as of September 2026, turns a Minecraft Java world into a 3MF.

It suits makers who want a model of their home town, a favorite hike or a crater, and who do not mind spending some time with the settings. Each export includes a license summary that says whether prints from that run may be sold.

What you can make

  • City models with buildings, roads and water
  • Terrain relief with contour lines
  • Multi-piece maps split across several plates
  • GPX route and trail maps
  • Moon, Mars and other planetary terrain
  • Minecraft world prints (beta)

How to use Mini Skyline

  1. Open the Earth map, or start on the Moon, Mars or another body, and find your place
  2. Draw a rectangle, circle or freeform outline and pick City tile, Project Mode or Terrain tile
  3. Switch buildings, roads, water, parks and terrain on or off, then set the size, relief and colors
  4. Check the 3D preview and download the 3MF for your slicer

Mini Skyline pros

  • Completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no export limit
  • Buildings, roads, water and parks come out as separate named parts, which makes AMS or MMU printing easy to set up
  • Goes well beyond a heightmap, with contour labels, GPX routes, trees, framed edges with text, custom buildings and multi-plate projects

Mini Skyline cons

  • Exports 3MF only, so you have to convert it in your slicer if another tool needs an STL
  • The long list of settings takes time to learn, and very large or Ultra-quality areas can run out of browser memory
  • Planetary models are terrain only, and missing or outdated buildings depend on the underlying map data
