STL Text

What is STL Text?

STL Text turns a word or short phrase into 3D text for printing. You type up to 30 characters, pick one of 10 bundled typefaces (Helvetiker, Optimer, Gentilis, Droid Sans and Droid Serif, each in regular and bold), and set the letter height, extrusion depth, letter spacing, edge bevel and alignment. A build style switch turns the plain text into a keychain with a loop or a text plate, and the live preview shows the model size in millimeters.

Separate pages cover related jobs. The custom font page loads your own TTF or OTF file (up to 20 MB) in the browser and flags thin strokes before export. There are preset pages for name keychains, desk name plates and standalone 3D letters, and a braille generator that writes English uncontracted braille as a raised-dot plate, with dot size, dot height, cell spacing and base thickness. It does not do Grade 2 contractions.

The download is a single binary STL, with no limit on exports. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Text is one color, so a two-color name means a filament change in your slicer. The FAQ says the geometry is yours to use, but the font licenses still apply when you sell.
