What is 3DFrames?
3DFrames builds a picture frame around the exact size of the artwork you want to frame. You enter the opening in inches or millimeters or pick a preset from 4 x 6 in to 50 x 70 cm, A6 to A3 and US Letter, and choose your printer so it knows the bed size. Frames larger than the bed are cut at the corners and along long rails into segments that join with built-in snap joints, or with a butterfly key from the back, so no glue is needed.
There are seven shapes (rectangle, square, circle, oval, arch, hexagon, octagon) and ten molding profiles with adjustable face width, thickness and rabbet. Nine face textures, such as an oak grain, are cut into the surface as real relief. You can emboss or engrave a caption, and add sprung clips to hold the artwork, a snap-in back panel, a keyhole hanger or a desk stand. A test piece lets you check the fit first.
Downloads are STL per part or combined, a color-coded 3MF, or a ZIP with all files and a printing and assembly guide. Straight rails are laid on their outer face so they print without supports; curved shapes stay face up and may need support. It runs in the browser without an account and is MIT-licensed on GitHub. It is version 0.1, new in September 2026.
