What is Resorte?

Resorte is a free browser tool by developer javierbyte that makes custom-size phone and book stands meant to be printed in vase mode. You pick one of two designs, a triangular holder or a stand with a flat base and an upright tower, then use sliders to set the viewing angle, the width of the holder, the depth of the slot that holds your device and the size of the base. A flat side view and a 3D preview update as you drag.

Each design is a side outline stretched out to the width you choose. The stand prints lying on its side, so that outline sits on the bed and the wall rises to the holder width, with spiral vase mode switched on so the slicer traces it as one continuous wall. That keeps print time and filament use low. Advanced settings adjust the small clip that stops the device from sliding off, and on the Triangle design also the rear tower and the wall width you plan to print with. The STL is built in your browser, and its file name records the settings you used.

There is no account and nothing to pay, and the code is on GitHub under a BSD license. It is a small side project with only two designs and no presets for specific devices, so you measure your phone, e-reader or book yourself. It suits makers who want a quick custom-size stand for the desk or kitchen.

  3. Adjust the base, and the clip and tower under Advanced Settings, while watching the preview

  5. In your slicer, check the height matches the holder width, then turn on spiral vase mode with wide walls (the page suggests about 0.8 mm)
