What is GridFlock Generator?

GridFlock Generator is a free browser tool that makes Gridfinity baseplates in any size and cuts them into pieces that fit your printer bed. It is an open-source project by the developer yawkat. You type in the size of the area you want to cover and the size of your bed, or pick your printer from a list of 22 presets. If the grid is too big to print in one go, the plate is split into pieces with puzzle-shaped joints so they lock back together into one flat plate.

You can use small puzzle tabs at the cell corners, which is the default, or tunable connectors along the edges. Other settings cover magnet pockets (glued or pressed in), narrower filler cells for leftover space, a hollow mode that uses roughly half the filament, screw holes, raised walls, chamfers and a number embossed under each piece to help with assembly. The model renders on the page and Save STL downloads it. Your settings are stored in the page address, so a bookmark keeps your design.

It suits people with smaller printers, such as an A1 Mini or Prusa MINI, who want a grid that runs wall to wall in a big drawer. The option list uses technical parameter names, but you only need the two sizes to get a usable plate. The model is built on your own computer, so larger plates can take a while to render.

What you can make

  • Custom-size Gridfinity baseplates
  • Baseplates split into bed-sized puzzle pieces
  • Baseplates with magnet pockets
  • Lightweight hollow baseplates
  • Baseplates with screw holes or raised walls

How to use GridFlock Generator

  1. Open the generator and enter the plate size in millimeters
  2. Pick your printer from the presets or type its bed size
  3. Choose a connector type, magnets and any extras
  4. Let it render, then click Save STL
  5. Print the pieces and join them using the numbers on the bottom

GridFlock Generator pros

  • Splits large grids into bed-sized pieces with puzzle joints and numbers each piece
  • Free, no account, and open source under MIT and CC BY 4.0
  • Printer presets and settings saved in the URL make a design quick to redo or share

GridFlock Generator cons

  • Most options show raw parameter names, which can feel technical
  • Downloads as STL only, with no 3MF export
  • As of September 2026, some extras, such as openGrid adapters and variable wall height, did not render correctly on split plates
